The San Francisco 49ers are a QB away from winning the NFC West and making the playoffs this season. They have Alex Smith who new head coach Him Harbaugh has been praising, but I am not sure that Smith is the QB of the future for the 49ers. The 49ers also drafted Colin Kapernick at No. 36 from the University of Nevada and he is a quick QB that has a pretty good arm as well. I think both of these guys are still a gamble and may become great QB's, but I want a more stable QB like Brett Favre or Kyle Orton. Orton is currently battling with Tim Tebow for the starting role for the Denver Broncos, but Orton has been taking most of the first team snaps, which means that Orton may be off of the trading block and that he wont be released. But, if the Broncos do release him, the 49ers should scoop him up because with the addition of Orton, the 49ers would have an offense that should win the NFC West and make the playoffs. The offense would have weapons like RB Frank Gore, new WR Braylon Edwards, Michael Crabtree, and Vernon Davis to go along with a pretty good offensive line and a defense that is good enough to help the 49ers maintain the lead that the offense will provide.
